My First Lightning Photograph

There is something about storms that have enchanted me since childhood. Back home in Assam, storms at the beginning of the rainy season are a regular phenomenon. And even when my mother would tell me not to venture out during a storm, I would just walk out and enjoy the bright flashes in the sky, the booming sound of thunder and the strong wind on my face.

This photograph is my first attempt at capturing a storm's bright moment here in Lavale. I haven't seen many fierce storms here like the one's at home but I just love it when it rains here and the clouds come in through my window. It took me almost an hour to capture this, patiently waiting at the window with my camera, trying to keep it in focus and in the right direction and clicking everytime there was a flash in the sky. But I dont mind the mosquito bites and the darkness and the wait. In fact I just love it. I would give anything to better this photograph, I know its a little out of focus.

I am sure in the future I will capture many more storms especially the one's at home with the wind on my face.

White Sands, Green Groves and Blue Seas

Kashid is a beautiful beach town on the shores of the Arabian Sea in Maharashtra. Its situated around 170 km from Pune and takes around 4 to 5 hours to reach.

Kashid was my first encounter with the sea in the 25 years of my life. I have always been a mountain and hills kind of a person. But the serenity of Kashid cast its spell on me.

White sand beaches, blue seas, green mountains, paddy fields, and rivulets, Kashid is a delight for anyone who wants to get away from the humdrum of city and spend sometime in peace with nature.

The monsoons had laid a carpet of green in the nearby rocky hillocks and Casuarina groves and the sudden spurts of rain sprinkled dance steps on the leaves of the trees. I wish I could have stayed for the sunset but maybe it was not meant to be this time. Spending a week or so with friends in the sleepy coastal twon would be an amazing experience and of course a lot many more photographs.

Greens, Yellows & Browns

I Choose To Remain

Dig deep, and you shall find me right there
Memories you have long forgotten or chosen not to remember
but Somewhere deep down
I choose to remain
Buried under heaps of faces, images and words
unrelated to me or us

Over the years
I have seen it all
photographs becoming faceless
songs losing their melody
places getting lost in oblivion
words vanishing into meaninglessness
But somehow you haven't been able to lose me.
Consciously though you have tried

Its as if I have dropped anchor
and the tide has forgotten that I existed
making me an island without touching me.
Yet I don't complain
because I choose to remain

I have hope
At some moment in time
these recollections will break through
washed by the tide
they will compel you to remember
what you choose to ignore
I shall be free then
And you an island.
